Basketball Preview: Rockford Rockets vs. Litchfield Dragons
The Rockford Rockets will head out on the road to square off against the Litchfield Dragons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rockford is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Rockford was fully in charge, breezing past the Lakers 67-37 at home. 67 seems to be a good number for Rockford as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Rockford can attribute much of their success to Sienna Thomas, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thomas has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenda Ebba, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Litchfield's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by New London-Spicer at home and fell 58-23. While losing is never fun, Litchfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Wildcats are ranked 29th).
Rockford's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Litchfield, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.
Rockford didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Dragons in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 42-38 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rockford since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
