Basketball Game Preview: Mohawk Warriors vs. Vanlue Wildcats

The Mohawk Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Vanlue Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Last Monday, Mohawk lost to Elmwood on the road by a 47-31 margin.

Meanwhile, Vanlue hadn't done well against Van Buren recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Vanlue took down Van Buren 57-43. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Vanlue's win came from a few key players Mohawk will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Olivia Secord, who went 6 for 11 on her way to 18 points and seven steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 38 times she's played. Adrienne Phillips was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds.

Vanlue smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matches.

Mohawk dropped their record down to 4-18 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Vanlue, their record is now 9-13.
