Recap: Portal Panthers vs. Johnson Atomsmashers
On Tuesday, Portal was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 59-53 to Johnson.
Portal's loss came despite strong showings from London Blackmon and Raashonda Khalil. Blackmon dropped a double-double on 24 points and 15 rebounds, while Khalil dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Khalil scored a full 32.1% of Portal's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Johnson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Malaya Wright, who scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Another player making a difference was Bryahnna Patton, who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Portal now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Johnson, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Portal will take on Southeast Bulloch at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Johnson, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Savannah Country Day at 6:00 p.m.
