Top 2016 cornerback Saivion Smith commits to LSU

Saivion Smith, the No. 1-ranked cornerback in the Class of 2016 according to 247Sports, committed to LSU today.

He selected the Tigers during a live interview with ESPN's Recruiting Nation. Clemson, Florida, Florida State and Virginia Tech were Smith's other finalists.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Smith was a big play waiting to happen for IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) in 2014.



In addition to five interceptions, he forced three fumbles, blocked three punts, and recovered two fumbles.

He scored six touchdowns combined on defense and special teams.

Before committing to LSU, Smith announced the other four teams that were in the running to land him: Clemson, Florida, Florida State and Virginia Tech.
