Basketball Recap: Wilson Piles Up the Points Against Samuell

A well-balanced attack led Wilson over Samuell in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Wilson Wildcats blew the Samuell Spartans out of the water with a 79-48 final score. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while the Spartans are ranked 1268th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wilson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Leighton Bruscato, who went 10 of 16 on his way to 28 points along with five boards and three steals. Those 28 points gave Bruscato a new career-high. Michael Best was another key player, going 8 for 16 en route to 20 points.

Wilson pushed their record up to 15-14 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.7 points per game. As for Samuell, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-26.

Wilson will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Spruce at 8:00 p.m. Wilson is facing Spruce at the right time seeing as Spruce is stuck on a 15-game losing streak. As for Samuell, they will take on Poteet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Poteet's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.
