Basketball Recap: Somerset Academy Brooks' Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Somerset Academy Brooks had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They enjoyed a cozy 56-39 victory over the Sunnybrook Christian Lions on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for Somerset Academy Brooks as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why Sunnybrook Christian lost, don't look at Gabe Minica. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. Minica's afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jay Williams was another key player, putting up nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.

With the defeat, Sunnybrook Christian broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-1.

Coincidentally, Somerset Academy Brooks and Sunnybrook Christian will both be playing Vanguard Christian the next time they take the court. Sunnybrook Christian will head out to face Vanguard Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Somerset Academy Brooks will play them later in the day, at 12:30 p.m.
