Basketball Recap: Gavon Taylor Key Part of Team Effort in Lions Win

Rock Creek Academy won the last time they faced Crothersville and things went their way on Saturday too. The Rock Creek Academy Lions put the hurt on the Crothersville Tigers with a sharp 81-59 win. With the Lions ahead 44-19 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Rock Creek Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gavon Taylor out in front who went 10-for-20 to rack up 22 points in addition to seven assists and three steals. What's more, Taylor also posted a 50% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in November of 2024. Garrett Gullion was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 20 rebounds.

Despite the loss, Crothersville still got an impressive performance from Beau Napier, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 12 boards. Another player making a difference was Tymir Cromwell, who posted 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

The win made it two in a row for Rock Creek Academy and bumps their season record up to 11-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.0 points over those games. As for Crothersville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-10.

Rock Creek Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 72-55 loss against Corydon Central on the 12th. As for Crothersville, they have also already played their next contest, a 66-48 defeat against Edinburgh on the 11th.
