Basketball Game Preview: Cedar Creek Eagles vs. Bastrop Bears

The Cedar Creek Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Bastrop Bears at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Creek is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season.

Cedar Creek took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They breezed by Crockett to the tune of 85-44. The game marked the Eagles' most dominant victory of the season.

Cedar Creek can attribute much of their success to Kenji Franklin, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds, and Phineas Koplin, who went 9 for 13 en route to 23 points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Koplin a new career-high in assists (four). Nomar Ruvalcaba was another key player, putting up ten points.

Meanwhile, Bastrop was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were outmatched by McCallum and fell 84-28. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 988th, while the Knights are ranked 227th).

Bastrop's loss dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Cedar Creek, they now have a winning record of 14-13.

Everything came up roses for Cedar Creek against Bastrop in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the team secured an 82-38 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Bastrop's Nathaniel Mosley, who went 7 of 8 on his way to 20 points.
