Football Recap: Maricopa Comes Up Short at Home Against Mountain View

Maricopa unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Mountain View Mountain Lions by a score of 15-13 on Tuesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it eight in a row.

Despite the defeat, Maricopa saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zena Palmer picked up 88 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Palmer got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 78 yards.

Coming up, Maricopa will venture away from home to square off against Youngker at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mountain View, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Salpointe Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
