Softball Recap: Waterloo Cougars vs. Cherokee Indians

Waterloo had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cherokee Indians on Saturday and snuck past 9-7. This was a revenge matchup for Waterloo, as the team was forced to settle for a 16-6 loss when these two played on Saturday.

Georgiana Kavich spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Caroline Lambert and Claire Cooper did most of the damage at the plate: Lambert scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4, while Cooper scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
