Basketball Recap: Charleston Tigers vs. Ingomar Falcons
Charleston and Ingomar squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Charleston had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 71-10 loss at the hands of the Ingomar Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while the Falcons are ranked 24th).
Macie Phifer continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ingomar, going 11 for 14 to rack up 26 points. That's the most points Phifer has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cadie Jo Byrd, who put up ten points and three steals.
Charleston now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Ingomar, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 28-2.
Charleston does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ingomar, they will square off against Walnut at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ingomar knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 matchups -- so hopefully Walnut likes a good challenge.
