Preview: Turner Lions vs. Creekview Mustangs
Turner is on a three-game streak of home losses, Creekview a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Turner Lions will take on the Creekview Mustangs at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Turner suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They were dealt a 76-48 loss at the hands of The Colony. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Turner in their matchups with The Colony: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite their defeat, Turner saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Rodney Gray, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Nikolas Barrett, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Creekview came up short against Lone Star on Wednesday and fell 64-53. While losing is never fun, Creekview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 645th, while Lone Star is ranked 57th).
Turner's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Creekview, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.
Turner came up short against Creekview in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 62-52. Can Turner avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
