A Region VI recap October 1, 2013

Cross and Lake Marion played the closest game in A Region VI this week, with Cross eventually emerging with a 29-27 victory. Devontae Shepherd ran for 172 yards in the win.

The Trojans made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,197 from 9,803. The improvement was the result of a 29-27 victory over the Gators last week.

Baptist Hill's Troy Harrison and De'Angelo Frasier led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Harrison has thrown for 1,223 yards this season, while Frasier has 21 catches for 410 yards. Cross' Shepherd leads the league in rushing yards with 665.

At the moment, the Bobcats are in first, while St. John's is in third.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Baptist Hill takes on the Islanders. Marion Brown's team has allowed 120 points this season, while St. John's has given up 144. The Bobcats allowed 35 points last week as they lost to Midland Valley.

Brad Bowles' team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 53 points on Scott's Branch.
