Recap: Coolidge Bears vs. San Tan Foothills Sabercats
The Coolidge Bears came tearing into Thursday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by San Tan Foothills on the road to the tune of 69-29. Given Coolidge's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while San Tan Foothills is ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Alaysia White, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 11 rebounds. White is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Naylissa Charles, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
San Tan Foothills' loss came despite strong showings from Cienna Witcher and Aj Williams. Witcher scored seven points along with six rebounds, while Williams scored four points.
Coolidge pushed their record up to 14-7 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for San Tan Foothills, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-16.
Coolidge will head out on the road to square off against Miami at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Miami is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for San Tan Foothills, they will be playing at home against Valley Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley Christian will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
