Basketball Recap: Moore Catholic Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Moore Catholic put another one in the bag on Sunday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Tottenville Pirates 71-47. The Mavericks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 24 points or more this season.

Moore Catholic's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brianna Caliri, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 boards. Caliri's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Emma Bruno-Dunn, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards.

Moore Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Moore Catholic pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Tottenville, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-2.

Moore Catholic and Liverpool will round out the year against one another at at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Moore Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Liverpool likes a good challenge. As for Tottenville, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Seward Park at 4:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
