Basketball Game Preview: Opelousas Tigers vs. Breaux Bridge Tigers

The Opelousas Tigers will square off against the Breaux Bridge Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Opelousas will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Opelousas will head into Tuesday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 22-point drubbing they dealt Cecilia on Tuesday. Opelousas put the hurt on Cecilia with a sharp 55-33 win. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 196th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Breaux Bridge was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 50-49 to Beau Chene. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Gators recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Opelousas' victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Breaux Bridge, their loss dropped their record down to 10-19.

Opelousas strolled past Breaux Bridge in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 72-56. Will Opelousas repeat their success, or does Breaux Bridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
