Soccer Game Preview: Haughton vs. Byrd

Haughton is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will head out to take on the Byrd Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. Haughton is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Haughton's offense. They lost 4-0 to Ruston on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Byrd). They never let Huntington get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for Byrd, who have now won three matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

The win made it two in a row for Byrd and bumps their season record up to 3-3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two matches. As for Haughton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4-1.

Haughton suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Byrd in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can the Buccaneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
