Football Game Preview: Palmyra Panthers vs. North Callaway Thunderbirds

The Palmyra Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the North Callaway Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Palmyra is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 67-20 victory over Highland. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Panthers with their most commanding win of the season.

Raeson Miller had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 235 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 13.1 yards per carry. Tyler Spicknall also helped out as he racked up 143 rushing yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Palmyra was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 381 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highland didn't rushed for any.

Meanwhile, North Callaway strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 60-12 win over Bowling Green. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Thunderbirds had established a 46-point advantage.

North Callaway's win came from a few key players Palmyra will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kellen Long, who picked up 84 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and also rushed for 51 yards and one TD on only seven carries. Coltyn O'Neal was another key player, throwing for 159 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes.

Palmyra's record now sits at 3-1. As for North Callaway, their record is now 4-0.

Palmyra came up short against North Callaway in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, falling 18-12. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
