Basketball Recap: East Lake Eagles vs. Sunlake Seahawks
If East Lake was feeling good fresh off their 49-17 takedown of Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The East Lake Eagles were dealt a 56-20 loss at the hands of the Sunlake Seahawks on Wednesday. Leading Sunlake to victory were Cherity Powells and Kaycie Hyde. Powells went 11 of 21 on her way to 23 points along with seven boards and seven steals, while Hyde dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten steals. Hyde has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Poll, who posted six points and three steals.
East Lake's loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Sunlake, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
