Softball Recap: Bourne Takes a Loss

Bourne extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They lost 18-1 to the West Bridgewater Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-4 back in April.

Michaela Muldoon was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Madison Mello also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

As for West Bridgewater, the win snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 5-9 record. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On West Bridgewater's side, Emma Croce was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and three doubles. Those three doubles gave Croce a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alanna Fidalgo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.

Coincidentally, Bourne and West Bridgewater will both be playing Fairhaven the next time they take the field. The Wildcats will head out to face the Blue Devils at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Canalmen will head out to face them at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
