The Sullivan Redskins will head out on the road to challenge the Cumberland Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Sullivan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Sullivan came out on top against Cerro Gordo/Bement on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Redskins walked away with a 7-3 win over the Broncos. The Redskins haven't had any issues with the Broncos recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

J'Nai Webb was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Webb wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Stinson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Stinson has posted since back in April.
Meanwhile, Cumberland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Villa Grove, falling 15-5.
Ashton Tolen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jude Miller, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Sullivan's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-9. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Cumberland, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sullivan hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. However, it's not like Cumberland struggles in that department as they've averaged .343. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sullivan took their win against Cumberland in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-5 score. Will the Redskins repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
