Basketball Game Preview: Ninilchik Wolverines vs. Bethel Warriors

The Ninilchik Wolverines and the Bethel Warriors will face off at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Ninilchik beat Seward 56-50.

Meanwhile, Bethel narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Homer 66-63. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Mariners recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Ninilchik has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points over those games. As for Bethel, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.

Ninilchik came up short against Bethel when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 55-49. Can Ninilchik avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
