Pasadena Memorial had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Channelview Falcons 22-19. The Mavericks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Falcons, too.

Channelview lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Davion Vanderbilt, who picked up 168 receiving yards and one touchdown. Roderick Buckler Ii was another key player, having thrown for 260 yards and onetouchdown.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pasadena Memorial will take on Porter at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Channelview, they will square off against MacArthur at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
