Baseball Recap: Greenville H Takes a Loss

Greenville H was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 12-7 to the St. Joseph's Catholic Knights. The Hurricanes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Killian Budlong and Owen Giles stepped up to the plate in a big way. Budlong scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Giles went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Budlong is becoming a predictor of Greenville H's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 4-7 when he doesn't). James Blackburn was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Greenville H's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for St. Joseph's Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greenville H will welcome Asheville T at 12:00 p.m. on April 5. As for St. Joseph's Catholic, they will host Southside Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southside Christian will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something St. Joseph's Catholic surely won't give up without a fight.
