Softball Recap: Point Arena Sets Scoring Season-High Against Credo

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Point Arena ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 35-34 win over the Credo Gryphon. The Pirates' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Point Arena got a massive performance out of Hattie Piper, who got on base in six of her eight plate appearances with one home run, six runs, and seven RBI. Those six runs gave Piper a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophia Roach, who got on base in seven of her eight plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI.

Point Arena was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .447. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .441 or higher in four consecutive games.

Point Arena pushed their record up to 6-10 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.3 runs over those games. As for Credo, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Point Arena has already played their next matchup (against Laytonville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Credo, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-4 loss against Tomales on the 9th.
