After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gaston Christian, SouthLake Christian Academy was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Westminster Catawba Christian Indians 3-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

SouthLake Christian Academy wouldn't go down easily and took Westminster Catawba Christian into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 19-25, 16-25, 25-17, 15-12.

Westminster Catawba Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sadie Prinz, who had 14 digs and 12 kills. Prinz is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had seven or more in each of the last 30 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joanna Boyd, who had 20 assists and eight digs.

SouthLake Christian Academy's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for Westminster Catawba Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

SouthLake Christian Academy has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Metrolina Christian Academy on the 9th. As for Westminster Catawba Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-2 victory against Hickory Christian Academy on the 8th.
