The Clover Hill Cavaliers will take on the Cosby Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clover Hill is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Clover Hill had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Monacan on Thursday. The Cavaliers blew past the Chiefs 13-5. The victory continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their matchups with the Chiefs: they've now won three in a row.
Brianna Miller made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Clover Hill let Paige Marshall and Alejandra Wittman run wild. Marshall went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Wittman went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Madison Hayes, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Clover Hill lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Cosby ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Deep Run 5-4. The win was familiar territory for the Titans, who have now won four contests in a row.
Kam Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Brown was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs.
In other batting news, Aislin Bossler was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Lily Taylor was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Cosby pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Clover Hill, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
Cosby's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Clover Hill has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. It's a different story for Cosby, though, as they've only averaged .344. Will they be able to contain Clover Hill's hitters?
