Basketball Game Preview: St. Paul Academy-Summit Spartans vs. Breck Mustangs

St. Paul Academy-Summit is 2-8 against Breck since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The St. Paul Academy-Summit Spartans will take on the Breck Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, St. Paul Academy-Summit was beaten by Minnehaha Academy 90-56. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while the Red Hawks are ranked 84th).

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Breck against Mounds Park Academy on Tuesday as the team secured an 82-31 victory. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 36 points or more this season.

Breck's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for St. Paul Academy-Summit, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.

St. Paul Academy-Summit was taken down by Breck 90-54 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can St. Paul Academy-Summit avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
