Softball Game Preview: Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks vs. Our Lady of Lourdes Warriors

The Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks will square off against the Our Lady of Lourdes Warriors at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Newburgh Free Academy and four for Our Lady of Lourdes.

Newburgh Free Academy fell victim to Pine Bush and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Bushmen, falling 11-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Goldbacks were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Our Lady of Lourdes scored the most runs they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They lost 13-6 to Spackenkill.

Our Lady of Lourdes' defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Newburgh Free Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Newburgh Free Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Our Lady of Lourdes when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 9-6. Will the Goldbacks repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
