Volleyball Recap: Fredericktown Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Fredericktown unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Utica Redskins on Saturday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Freddies have suffered since September 17, 2024.

The 3-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 27-25, 25-23.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Utica to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madison Yates, who had 14 digs and three assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessi Paxton, who had 13 digs.

Looking ahead, Fredericktown will venture away from home to face off against Clear Fork at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Utica, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Watkins Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give the Redskins their first taste of in-conference action this season.
