Baseball Recap: Fernley Comes Up Short

Fernley lost against Churchill County back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Fernley fell just short of Churchill County by a score of 12-11. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (ten), the Vaqueros still had to take the loss.

Brody Jones made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Spencer Pryor was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his seven plate appearances.

Jones wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Fernley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Fernley has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7-1 record this season. The win was the third in a row for Churchill County, bringing their record up to 6-4-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Churchill County beat Fernley by a score of 4-1 on Saturday.
