Basketball Recap: Leyden Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Leyden posted their closest win since December 28, 2024 on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hinsdale South Hornets, sneaking past 47-45. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Hornets back in December of 2024, they had to take a 51-38 defeat.

When it comes to explaining why Hinsdale South lost, don't look at Maeve Savage. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. That was a full 42.2% of Hinsdale South's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Marit Haile, who put up two points in addition to 14 rebounds and three steals.
