Softball Recap: Maumee Beats Rogers for Their Third Straight Win

Maumee waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Rogers Rams with a sharp 18-2 victory. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rams, too.

Hannah Ruiz and Julia Coutcher were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Ruiz tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Meanwhile, Coutcher tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Ruiz went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double, while Coutcher got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one double. That's the most runs Coutcher has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Autumn Gugger and Brynn Maier did most of the damage at the plate: Gugger got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one triple, while Maier went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was Maier's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamie Brooks, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Maumee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .879. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Maumee's record now sits at 14-10. As for Rogers, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-10.

Looking ahead, Maumee will head out to face off against Eastwood at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Rogers does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
