Softball Game Preview: Broadalbin-Perth Patriots vs. Canajoharie Cougars

The Broadalbin-Perth Patriots will face off against the Canajoharie Cougars at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. Canajoharie took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Broadalbin-Perth, who comes in off a win.

Broadalbin-Perth headed into their last game having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Gloversville let them put that streak behind them. The Patriots never let the Huskies/Dragons get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Huskies/Dragons: they've now won six in a row.

Adrianna Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Skylar Eglin and Marley Morin did most of the damage at the plate: Eglin scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Morin scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Morin a new career-high in RBI (two). Kara Weaver was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Broadalbin-Perth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Canajoharie lost 22-3 to Galway on Thursday. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Golden Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Canajoharie's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Broadalbin-Perth, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
