Baseball Recap: Cheyenne Mountain Has No Trouble Against Palmer Ridge

Cheyenne Mountain had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Palmer Ridge on Thursday. The Red-Tailed Hawks blew past the Bears 9-1. The Red-Tailed Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by eight runs or more this season.

Colton Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Luke Schriever looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Charlie Scofield was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Nate Glad, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Cheyenne Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 9-3-1. As for Palmer Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cheyenne Mountain will challenge Falcon at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Palmer Ridge, they will take on Vista Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something the Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of.
