Baseball Recap: Mason Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

While Mason's victory against Oak Hills wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Comets narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Highlanders 8-7. The victory continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Highlanders: they've now won seven in a row.

Caden Scherz looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sam Davies, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. JT Vaughn was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Mason's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Oak Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-4.
