Volleyball Recap: Franklin Sabers vs. Catholic Memorial Crusaders
Franklin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Catholic Memorial Crusaders. The Sabers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.
Samantha Ruffing paced Franklin's offense, picking up 12 kills. Ruffing got some help from Allie Soboinski and her 12 assists. Soboinski was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.
Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 7-19. As for Catholic Memorial, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-12 record this season.
Franklin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against West Bend East on the 27th. As for Catholic Memorial, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Appleton North on the 27th.
