Baseball Game Preview: Brighton Bengals vs. Skyline Eagles

For the second straight game, Brighton will face off against Skyline. The Bengals are taking a road trip to square off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Brighton is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Brighton and Skyline meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Bengals took a 16-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. Even though they lost, the Bengals' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Boston Johnson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jonathon Ellis led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and one run. Those triples were his first of the season. Hayes Raulston was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.

The win made it two in a row for Skyline and bumps their season record up to 5-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Brighton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
