Softball Recap: Garber Comes Up Short

Garber had lost eight straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 8-11 to make it nine. They lost 7-1 to the Unionville-Sebewaing Patriots. The Dukes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

As for Unionville-Sebewaing, the victory got them back to even at 8-8. Considering they have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Unionville-Sebewaing's part, Olivia Green spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up ten Ks. Green has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kate Beagle, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Tenbusch, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Looking ahead, Garber will challenge Ithaca at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Unionville-Sebewaing, they will head out to take on Reese at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots are facing the Rockets at the right time seeing as the Rockets are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
