Baseball Recap: North Valley Christian Academy Lions vs. Anthem Prep Eagles

After flying high against Maryvale Prep last Friday, North Valley Christian Academy came back down to earth. The North Valley Christian Academy Lions wound up on the wrong side of a tough 7-1 walloping at the hands of the Anthem Prep Eagles on Tuesday. North Valley Christian Academy has not had much luck with Anthem Prep recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Brayden Collins was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with a home run.

On Anthem Prep's side, Jaxon MacHugh and Titus Franklin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, MacHugh tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Franklin struck out eight batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. At the plate, MacHugh got on base in three of his four plate appearances with a stolen base and an RBI, while Franklin scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Nic DeSilva was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Noah Torres-Brooks, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

North Valley Christian Academy's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-12. As for Anthem Prep, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-5.

North Valley Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Anthem Prep also has no future games currently scheduled.
