Baseball Game Preview: Washington Union Panthers vs. Kingsburg Vikings

Washington Union hasn't had much luck against Kingsburg recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. Washington Union is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 12 games.

Washington Union is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over Arroyo Grande.

The team relied heavily on Cole Roth, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday Kingsburg sidestepped Paso Robles for a 4-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

Jensen Hirschkorn made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Elijah Duarte was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Washington Union's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Kingsburg, their record now sits at 20-10.
