Baseball Recap: Silver Comes Up Short

Silver had lost five straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 5-19 to make it six. They lost 13-1 to the Chaparral Lobos. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Lobos this season, with their most recent loss being a 8-1 defeat on Friday.

As for Chaparral, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-11. Considering they have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Chaparral's part, Carlos Torres was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Torres has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Salvador Robles was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Michael Molina, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

As of now, neither Silver nor Chaparral have any future games scheduled.
