Basketball Game Preview: Hoisington Cardinals vs. Halstead Dragons

Hoisington hasn't had much luck against Halstead recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Hoisington Cardinals will welcome the Halstead Dragons at 6:00 p.m.

Hoisington lost 53-31 to Larned on Friday. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Halstead had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 41-19 margin over Elyria Christian. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Elyria Christian are ranked 164th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Halstead pushed their record up to 18-1 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Hoisington, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.

Hoisington came up short against Halstead when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 68-61. Can Hoisington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
