Volleyball Recap: Riverview Sarasota Comes Up Short

Riverview Sarasota was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Strawberry Crest Chargers.

Despite the loss, Riverview Sarasota still got an impressive performance from Tara Stults, who had 14 assists and three digs. Stults is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalia Leguizamon, who had 12 assists and three digs.

Strawberry Crest found their leader in sophomore Haley Kang, who had 15 digs. Those 15 digs set a new season-high mark for Kang. Piper Moyer also deserves some recognition as she had her first kills of the season.

Riverview Sarasota now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Strawberry Crest, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-10.

Looking ahead, Riverview Sarasota will host Venice at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Strawberry Crest, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Florida State University High School on the 27th.
