Basketball Game Preview: Water Canyon Wildcats vs. Millard Eagles

The Water Canyon Wildcats will head out to square off against the Millard Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Water Canyon is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Beaver back in December of 2024 (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Water Canyon had to suffer through a 63-20 loss at the hands of Beaver. The game marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Millard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 57-46 loss to Juab.

Water Canyon will have to contain Kyra Moat as she made an impact in Millard's last game. She went 6 of 12 on her way to 13 points and four steals. Moat is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliza Larsen, who posted three points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Millard smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Water Canyon has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Millard, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Water Canyon was dealt a bruising 75-23 loss at the hands of Millard when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Water Canyon, Sydney Braman (who went 10 of 19 on her way to 29 points along with five boards and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
