Recap: East Hartford Hornets vs. Edwin O. Smith Panthers
The East Hartford Hornets fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Edwin O. Smith Panthers on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 62-54 to the Panthers. East Hartford has not had much luck with Edwin O. Smith recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zoe Mercado, who scored 14 points. Comfort Boateng was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
East Hartford's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Edwin O. Smith, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.
East Hartford will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Manchester at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Manchester is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. Edwin O. Smith will finish 2023 at home by hosting Sacred Heart Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
