The Scottsburg Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Mitchell Bluejackets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Scottsburg will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Scottsburg will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Austin, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Warriors skirted past the Eagles 4-3. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Garrett McClellan was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Paxton Copple also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Mitchell not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 15, 2024 (when they won 17-0). They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over Crawford County. The Bluejackets haven't had any issues with the Wolfpack recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Dason Kerr was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Martin, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Scottsburg pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Mitchell, their record is now 3-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Scottsburg has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mitchell struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Scottsburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Mitchell in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
