Basketball Recap: Monticello's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Saturday

It was a proper cat-fight when Monticello faced off against Benton on Saturday. The Monticello Panthers walked away with a 65-55 win over the Benton Bobcats. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Bobcats are ranked 266th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory made it two in a row for Monticello and bumps their season record up to 12-4. As for Benton, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Monticello will have a chance to go back-to-back against Benton: the pair will be back at it again later today.
