Preview: Brookstone Cougars vs. Jordan Red Jackets
The Brookstone Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Jordan Red Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jordan took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Brookstone, who comes in off a win.
Even though Brookstone has not done well against Kendrick recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Brookstone strolled past Kendrick with points to spare, taking the game 69-50. Given Brookstone's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while Kendrick is ranked 378th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fuller Jones was the offensive standout of the game as he went 8 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 0 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Miley, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Jordan's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. Their tough 69-47 defeat to Columbus might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jordan in their matchups with Columbus: they've now lost eight in a row.
The losses dropped Brookstone to 5-2 and Kendrick to 1-4.
Brookstone took their win against Jordan when the teams last played back in November by a conclusive 73-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brookstone since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
