Recap: Lenawee Christian Cougars vs. Oakland Christian Lancers
There's no place like home for the Lenawee Christian Cougars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on Oakland Christian with a sharp 87-67 victory on Saturday. Given Lenawee Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Oakland Christian is ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lenawee Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daniel Scrupsky, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 3 assists. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for him. Jaxon Salenbien was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with nine assists and five rebounds.
Lenawee Christian's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. As for Oakland Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Lenawee Christian will head out on the road to face off against Lumen Christi Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oakland Christian will be home for the holidays to greet Kingston at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Kingston focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
